Apple Business Connect was replaced by Apple Business on April 14, 2026. The tools local businesses used to manage their Apple Maps listing, including place cards, Showcases, and location insights, now live inside Apple Business, a free platform that also adds device management, business email, and a paid option for ads on Apple Maps. If you had a Business Connect account, your listing data moved over automatically. If you never claimed your Apple Maps listing, now is a good time.
Key takeaways
- Apple Business Connect no longer exists as a standalone product. Its listing tools are now part of Apple Business.
- Existing claimed locations, place card details, photos, and account data migrated automatically.
- Your place card feeds more than Maps. Apple says the information appears across Siri, Safari, Spotlight, and other Apple apps.
- Apple announced paid ads on Apple Maps for the U.S. and Canada, and businesses must claim their location first to use them.
- Your Apple listing and your Google Business Profile should show identical names, addresses, phone numbers, and hours.
What changed when Apple Business Connect became Apple Business?
Apple consolidated three separate products (Apple Business Connect, Apple Business Essentials, and Apple Business Manager) into one platform called Apple Business. The listing features local businesses care about carried over intact. What changed is the address: you now manage your Apple Maps presence at business.apple.com inside Apple Business rather than in a separate Business Connect dashboard.
According to Apple's announcement, the brand and location tools that moved over include:
- Brand profiles: your business name, logo, and key details, managed consistently across Maps, Wallet, and other Apple apps.
- Rich place cards: photos, hours, location details, and other information shown across Maps, Safari, and Spotlight.
- Showcases and custom actions: promotions, new products, or seasonal offers on your place card, plus buttons like order or reserve that send customers to your website or app.
- Location insights: how people discover and interact with your listing, including searches, views, and taps on actions.
- Branded communications and Tap to Pay branding: your logo and name in Apple Mail and on the Tap to Pay on iPhone payment screen.
Why does an Apple Maps listing matter for AI answers?
Your Apple place card is the data source Apple's own assistant reads. When someone asks Siri for a nearby plumber or a dentist open on Saturday, Siri draws on Apple's place data rather than your website alone. Apple has said since 2024 that place card information appears to users across apps such as Siri and Wallet, and its 2026 announcement adds Safari and Spotlight.
That makes an Apple listing part of answer engine optimization, not just map maintenance. An unclaimed or stale listing means Apple's assistant may answer questions about your business with outdated hours or a missing phone number, and you have no way to correct it until you claim it.
How do you set up or update your listing in Apple Business?
The process takes about 20 minutes for a single location, plus Apple's review time.
- Sign in at business.apple.com with a Managed Apple Account or the Apple Account you used for Business Connect. If you used Business Connect before, your locations should already be there.
- Claim your location if it isn't already claimed. Apple verifies that you're authorized to manage it before your edits go live, so follow the verification option it offers for your location.
- Match your core details to Google exactly. Business name, address format, phone number, and hours should read the same way they do on your Google Business Profile. Small mismatches like "St." versus "Street" create conflicting records across platforms.
- Choose accurate categories. Pick the category that describes what customers hire you for, not the broadest one available.
- Upload real photos: your storefront, team, and completed work. Skip stock images.
- Add a custom action that goes somewhere useful, such as a booking page or contact form. Add UTM parameters to the link so Apple Maps traffic shows up as its own source in Google Analytics.
- Create a Showcase for a current offer or seasonal service. Showcases go through Apple review before they appear, so submit a few days ahead of when you need them live.
What about ads on Apple Maps?
Apple announced that businesses in the U.S. and Canada would be able to create ads on Maps through Apple Business starting in summer 2026. Apple says the ads appear in Maps search results and in a new Suggested Places section, are clearly labeled, and aren't tied to a user's Apple Account. Check your Apple Business dashboard for current availability in your area.
Claiming your location is a prerequisite either way. An accurate, complete organic listing is also the foundation any ad would point back to.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Letting the listing drift from Google. If you change hours on Google Business Profile, change them in Apple Business the same day.
- Treating it as optional. Anyone who asks Siri about you or opens Apple Maps sees your Apple listing, not your Google profile. If you haven't claimed it, you don't control what they see.
- Using the listing for keyword stuffing. Add service keywords to your business name and you risk a rejected edit. Use your real business name.
- Setting a Showcase and forgetting it. An expired or outdated offer is worse than none. Put a reminder on your calendar to refresh it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Apple Business Connect still available? No. Apple retired Apple Business Connect when it launched Apple Business on April 14, 2026. Existing Business Connect data, including claimed locations, place card details, and photos, migrated automatically, so businesses manage the same listing in the new platform.
Is Apple Business free? Yes. Apple Business is a free service in the U.S. Some add-ons, such as extra iCloud storage and AppleCare+ for Business, are paid, and ads on Apple Maps are a separate paid option.
Does my Apple Maps listing affect Siri answers? Yes. Apple says place card information appears across its apps, including Siri, Maps, Safari, and Spotlight. Keeping hours, categories, and contact details accurate helps those answers stay correct.
Do I need Apple Business if I already have a Google Business Profile? They reach different users. Google Business Profile controls how you appear on Google Search and Maps. Apple Business controls your listing across Apple Maps, Siri, and other Apple apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Most local businesses should maintain both with identical core details.
Can a service-area business use Apple Business? Yes. Since late 2024, Apple has allowed businesses without a customer-facing storefront, including service-area and online businesses, to register and manage a brand identity.
