Local SEO

Maximus Visions Photography is a wedding, family, and portrait studio serving Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, and Essex counties. Its website was technically strong, but listings, business data, and content were sending Google and AI assistants mixed signals. Here is what we found, what we changed, and what the client saw.

The Starting Point

Our audit found problems in three areas.

Conflicting business facts

  • Yelp listed the studio as closed.
  • A Google Business Profile FAQ answer named the wrong city.
  • The website said Monday–Friday and Saturday hours, but the studio actually works seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The site hard-coded a review count of 60 while the Google profile showed 74.
  • Both the www and non-www versions of the site were live, splitting signals between two hostnames.

Hidden or vague signals

  • The homepage's main heading was hidden from visitors (screen-reader only).
  • The service area in structured data was a generic circle on a map, not the four counties the studio actually serves.

A content gap

  • All 15 blog posts were about Bergen County, though the studio works across four counties.
  • High-demand venue searches had no page targeting them. "Wedding venues jersey city" alone draws about 1,300 searches a month, and many venue-name searches showed almost no competition.

A competitive audit confirmed the site already led its competitors on technical SEO. The gap was off-site trust and content coverage.

What We Did

1. One source of truth for business facts

We created a single file holding the studio's name, address, hours, phone, review count, and Google listing ID. Every page and every piece of structured data now reads from it, so a fact can't drift on one page again.

2. Listing cleanup at the source

We corrected the Yelp status, fixed the wrong-city FAQ, and brought hours and contact details into line across directories. These are the steps in our citation building guide.

3. Structured data that matches reality

We matched the business name exactly to the Google profile, linked the profile with its Maps ID, rebuilt the seven-day hours, and replaced the generic map circle with the four real counties. We also consolidated everything onto one hostname with a permanent redirect.

4. A visible, specific homepage heading

The hidden heading became a visible one: New Jersey Wedding Photographer. The studio's hero video and poetic tagline stayed exactly as they were.

5. Content where demand existed

We published 10 new posts on one date in late August 2026. Then we published 10 detailed venue guides for Macaluso's, The Tides Estate, Il Villaggio, Highlawn Pavilion, Maritime Parc, Park Savoy Estate, Battello, Liberty House, The Grove, and The Brownstone. Each guide covers light, rooms, timing, and seasons from a photographer's point of view, the kind of detail couples and venues actually use. The research method is in our local keyword research guide.

6. Venue relationships

Each guide doubles as outreach material for the venue's events team, which builds local links the right way. More in local link building.

Verification

Before launch, the build was checked end to end:

  • 136 pages generated.
  • 132 canonical URLs in the sitemap.
  • No leftover references to the old review count.
  • The main heading confirmed visible on every page that should have one.

What Comes Next

The plan continues with more venue guides, hub pages for North Jersey wedding photography, seasonal content (winter engagements and spring cherry blossoms), and expanding the unique local content on service-area pages.

Lessons for Other Local Businesses

  • Fix contradictions before adding content. One "closed" listing can undo months of work.
  • Keep business facts in one place. That makes Google and AI assistants see the same business everywhere.
  • Look for demand your competitors ignore. For this studio, it was specific venues, not "photographer near me."
